How to Get YouTube Picture-in-Picture For Free For 60-days on iOS & iPadOS

YouTube was said to start the rollout of Picture-in-Picture on iOS and iPadOS devices starting on the 31st of October 2021. Sadly, this has been delayed until the 1st of February 2022. This article will explain how you can use Picture-in-Picture in the YouTube iOS and iPadOS app for free for 60-days.

Step 1

Click here on your iPhone or iPad, making sure you're signed in to the correct Google account where you'd like to use Picture-in-Picture. You'll be taken to a page in the YouTube app where you can start a free 30-day trial of YouTube Premium. Tap the blue button to start the trial. Make sure to do this in the app – not on the website.

Step 2

Go to YouTube.com/new and scroll down to the section titled "Picture-in-Picture on iOS", then tap the "Try it out" button.

Step 3

Open the YouTube app and tap your profile picture at the top right. Then go to Settings > General and enable Picture-in-Picture.

Step 4

Try watching a video and closing the app. The video should continue to play on top of whatever you are doing on your device. If it doesn't work, either wait an hour and try again or reinstall the YouTube app.

Step 5

Open the iOS or iPadOS built-in Settings app > Tap your name > Subscriptions > YouTube Premium and then cancel the trial. You’ll still get to keep it for the remaining 30 days.

Step 6: After The First Trial Ends...

Go to YouTube.com/Premium and start another 30-day free trial via the website – not the app.

Step 7

Click here and cancel the second trial. You’ll still get to keep it for the remaining 30 days.

That's it! You're done!
